Every great Scout Group needs a strong team working behind the scenes. While Leaders deliver programs and adventures for young people, the Committee helps provide the resources, facilities, funding, and support that make those experiences possible.

For many volunteers, becoming a Committee Member is a natural progression from being an Adult Supporter. It's an opportunity to become more involved, take ownership of projects, and help shape the future direction of Cardiff Scout Group.

What Does the Committee Do?

The Committee helps keep the Group running by:

• Organising fundraising activities
• Applying for grants and seeking community donations
• Supporting working bees and hall maintenance
• Managing finances and administration
• Coordinating volunteers and special projects
• Overseeing Group equipment and resources
• Supporting the long-term growth and sustainability of the Group

By taking care of these important responsibilities, the Committee frees up Leaders to focus on delivering quality programs for young people.

Key Committee Roles

• Chairperson - Leads the Committee and helps guide the Group's direction.
• Secretary - Manages communications, records, and meeting administration.
• Treasurer - Oversees the Group's finances and budgeting.
• Fundraising Coordinator - Helps secure funds through events and community support.
• Quartermaster - Manages and maintains Group equipment and resources.

You don't need previous Scouting experience to join the Committee. Whether you have skills in administration, finance, project management, fundraising, maintenance, or simply a desire to help, there's a place for you.

As a Committee Member, you'll build friendships, support local young people, and play a direct role in ensuring Cardiff Scout Group continues to provide adventure and opportunity for generations to come.
